no happiness in misery
no happiness in misery (OR: My best friend died and I don't know what to do so I wrote a cento about it with Fall Out Boy lyrics) so, progress report: i am missing you to death, my best friend, dead and gone, and i want these words to make things right but i must confess, now that you’re gone, i try to picture me without you but i can’t, so now i’m just numb, bulletproof loneliness, wearing vintage misery, like i’ll never be the same, and i don’t want to forget how your voice sounds, (just off the key of sunshine riptide) and i need to keep you like this in my mind, wishing on every star, a cherry blossom about to bloom, the eighth wonder. and i could scream forever, as desperation takes hold, ‘cause i don’t know where you’re going, and i keep telling myself i'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday, and i’m so sorry how talking's just a waste of breath. it’s kinda funny, that everything i wish for will never come true. so i lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum. we

Young, too young, way too young
What words could convey the emptiness that echoes so
sunlight poured into her bedroom
old treasure maps where
the unknown beckoned her
in half truths
writing pages and pages of
the earth; pushing up mountains
and it knew her
underneath the unbroken splatter of blue.
the skies are singing
crimson slithers
winter tombs;
digest in fragments
so foreign to her
incomplete pieces of dreams
and in not a single one
she said she was invincible
eyes shine bright with fear
before it all
like a blanket for the ground
beams across her freckled skin,
because smiling feels too stressful
and she wishes for spring
a time most sacred

Feline predator in the Wild and Green
sliding down the old green couch silver body nimble as he waits with greedy fangs emerging from the maw the beast nipping fields of tender grass for a lifetime the soil grabs hold, swallowing this bright bursting brain mourning the fallen, those bereft of life diamonds lost to the sky, soles tap dancing and weave as phantoms in the new sun
all your mistakes untrue untrue, you you you run run run burn it up even if it breaks down before I fall I need you no matter what anyone said we are bulletproof 05.05.2020
Through dogwood trees in the twilight walking,
I am taking my sweet time
and as the light begins to shift...
we are air and memoirs-
we are magic in the moment-
and I swear that this world has never been brighter.
You made me paper cranes
with drunken precision
and that was all that really mattered.
You rattle my walls and shake my bones.
You are Neptune.
I hold my breath, but you keep breathing.
Sometimes I feel the wind is a presence-
it keeps us connected.
Us two, a couplet, sweet rhythm and rhyme,
and vibrant blues.
Your eyes are lockets
of love and affection.

across homes, across hearts
never defined from the start)
better used for funerals
tell me the names of the ones you love,
just believe (in) me, for once
a hostage- not a partner,
like a comfort, like a curse
“scream somewhere else”
you say with a snarl,
there’s teeth marks on your lips,
steel beneath your fingertips
sneaking in was easy enough,
until i started screaming about elephants
and that's way less metaphorical than it might seem-
she's a friend of yours, a friend
a fucking ghost and honey
you're only human:
you cannot grasp

Drawn in chalk, a flower grows
where she lay across the floor.
A midnight dreamer waiting to be lit,
to bask in the afterglow of the valley
where she sang in the morning.
"They put my hands in water,
told me I'm a god."
Across the river, life answered
and followed her into the night,
seeking the lamb that gave her a name.
"The grey in this city
is too much to bear."
In the end, she was an eagle,
the birds singing to calm her down.
An old stone, all her fire had left,
ten thousand years and still on her own.

A Moment of Silence, Spring After
A Moment of Silence, Spring After
I had withdrawn in forest, and my song:
She’s glad her simple worsted grey,
But he sighed upon the sill;
Grim giving to do over for them both.
My little horse must think it queer
And tries once—twice—and thrice if I be there;
Behind light words that tease and flout:
‘Come out! Come out!’—
With mischievous, vagrant, seraphic look,
That could take me from beside you ,,
How countlessly they congregate,
With the breath of many flowers,—
A heartfelt prayer for the poor of God.
All simply in the springing of the year.

The Red Wheel
-- A liquid moon
that drips from leaf to leaf;
red cradle of the night,
the stifling heat of September:
Cities rotted to
brown with dried weeds, standing and fallen.
Death shaves
the dead stick of night;
I’m filled with the fading memory of those flowers.
On this the coffin: lies.
The half-stripped trees:
Comforted.
Again I reply to the triple winds
and singing softly to myself:
From a poet, whom I love,
'Lo, I am helpless!'
But who am I…?
I tried to put a bird in a cage:
white as can be, with a purple mole,
[its secret]; blue eyes-
the wings’ wax--
--Gold against blue.
She’s always hungry but .
(i)
I try to be tall sugar cane
weeping warm honey and milk
burning still;
my heart keeps telling me
who I really was before.
(ii)
I let you crawl inside
and we'll pretend that feeling rage
surging through your veins
where your sins laid
is black and white.
